Welcome to In Igne Veniet!

Updated: Mar 12, 2022

On the off-chance that you happened to stumble across this website, I want to wish you the warmest of welcomes and am glad that you're here! The format is basic and my web-skills are atrocious but... here we are! Best make the most of it, eh?

First off, you're probably wondering: why the name "In Igne Veniet". Am I right? Well, it's a simple story really. When I first set up my YouTube channel just over a year ago, I wanted to come up with a name that's both unique and conveys a message that was both relevant to the overall purpose of the channel and pertinent to the times we now find ourselves in.

For the linguistically gifted among you, you'll have probably guessed (or known) that In Igne Veniet is Latin, that ancient language once spoken by the Romans and now preserved mainly (although now half-heartedly it seems) by the Roman Catholic Church (and also in various fields of science and medicine to an extent). It is a quote from the Vulgate (St Jerome's Latin translation of the Bible) of the great prophet Isaiah who wrote the following (in Hebrew, of course) with regards to God's rightful judgment:

For behold, the Lord will come with fire, and His chariots are like a whirlwind, to render His wrath in indignation, and His rebuke with flames of fire.

- Isaiah 66:15

Igne is the Latin word for fire and veniet is the future tense (third person singular) of the verb to come. Therefore, In Igne Veniet = He comes with fire. A reference to the Second Coming of Christ when He will judge the living and the dead at the final judgment. Owing to the fact that many shepherds of Christ's flock (i.e. priests and bishops) are not fulfilling their commission to feed the sheep of Christ (John 21:17) and have failed to adequately instruct their flocks in the doctrines of the Catholic faith, the Sacred Scriptures and the Apostolic Tradition; and are now even prohibiting access to the Sacraments without just cause.

The purpose of the YouTube channel was to provide a free crash course in the Catechism (the unapologetic one from the Council of Trent in case you're wondering) and other commentaries pertaining to the faith. Please watch this series if you would like to brush up on the basics of Catholicism and/or would like to learn what the Church actually teaches (i.e. what she has always taught and will always teach. No compromises!)

Please also check out my first book: Inspired and Inerrant - A New Guide to the Old Testament (2020, self-published) which I will introduce properly in another post.

In the meantime, be blessed, study hard and keep the faith. I can assure you that we will need it now more than ever before. Take care and God bless.

Sean
